For updated 2024 instructions and information on council clean-up in the Northern Beaches LGA, please click the following: https://www.northernbeaches.nsw.gov.au/services/rubbish-and-recycling/bulky-goods-collection

With tip fees ($330 per ton) affecting everyone now (not just commercial drop-offs), it's best to look into the next best alternative to disposing of the junk from your spring clean. Every council conducts its clean-ups differently. Some use the old schedule system, and others have adopted the booking system. Below, we have outlined everything you need to know about council clean-ups in your area.

Our free bulky goods clean-up collections are your opportunity to free up space at home. Get rid of all sorts of bulky items, including mattresses, that you don’t need anymore or that you can’t recycle or reuse in any other way.
Scheduled CollectionsIf you live in the former Warringah Council area, the Council collects bulky goods from your neighbourhood twice a year. We’ll notify you with a letterbox drop three weeks before the collection date. We don’t publish scheduled collection dates in advance to deter dumping.

Pre-booked CollectionsIf you live in the former Manly or Pittwater Council areas, you can choose your collection date, subject to availability. Advance booking is essential and can be done online for former Manly(opens in a new window) or former Pittwater(opens in a new window). If you have any issues, please call Waste Services on 1300 434 434. We’ll send you an email confirmation, and you can opt for an SMS reminder ahead of time if you forget.
Scheduled Collections on Scotland Island and Western ForeshoreCouncil collects bulky goods from Scotland Island and the Western Foreshore twice a year. You can find out about upcoming collections on your waste calendar.
