 Wheelie bins are designed to hold your waste until the garbage man empties them. They are usually weather proof and built to withstand being handled by a garbage compactor on a weekly basis.
Despite this, your wheelie bin will not last forever. Your average wheelie bin will only last around 18 months without at least one part of the wheelie bin being damaged or tainted. In most cases it is not the owner of the wheelie bin that causes the damage to the wheelie bins. Most of the damage will come from the handling of the wheelie bin by the garbage man/truck combined with the effects of the weather and climate the wheelie bin is exposed to. The damage might be as little as a crack in the side of the bin or one of the handles being broken off, but eventually you will need to replace your bin(s). Do not worry though, it wont cost you as much as you think to replace your wheelie bin... In fact it wont cost you at all (if you don't count tax costing you anything). All you need to do to replace you wheelie bin free of charge is to contact council and have them replace your old wheelie bin(s) with a new wheelie bin. This also works if you have lost your wheelie bin altogether. There are also options to replace certain parts of the wheelie bin(s), such as broken wheels and damaged lids.
